Alleged Bank Robbers Could Be Sentenced to Up to 20 Years

Derek Armstrong, Chief Crime Correspondent

ILLINOIS—Daniel Ravellette (age 61), Donald Long (age 31) and Zachary Richey (age 23) were charged with bank robbery, resulting from a robbery on December 19, 2009 at Regions Bank in Lebanon. Boty Ravellette and Long were from Indiana, while Richey was from Illinois.

If convicted of bank robbery, they could realize a sentence of up to 20 years in prison, plus fines of up to $250,000. Regardless of sentence, they could receive up to three years supervised release, after serving their term.

Defendants appeared before a Judge on December 21 at which time a detention hearing was scheduled for December 22. The defendants will remain detained without bond until then.

The charges fell out of an FBI investigation, in cooperation with the Lebanon Police and O’Fallon Police Departments. Angella Scott, Assistant United States Attorney will prosecute.

At this time, the charges are an allegation only and under federal court rules they have the right to be charged by way of indictment after a Grand Jury. All defendants are presumed to be innocent of all charges. Only a trial can determine their guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
